Subaru Electronic Parking Brake Actuator Safety Recall - WTV-81
What Subaru Vehicles are Affected by the Electronic Parking Brake Actuator Recall?
This recall affects all 2010-2014 Subaru Legacy and Subaru Outback models equipped with manual transmissions. If you own a model with an automatic transmission, you won't have to worry about this recall.
What Does the Electronic Parking Brake Actuator Safety Recall Entail?
The Electronic Parking Brake, or EPB, Actuator Recall is due to a component with a manufacturer defect in a circuit board located in the control of the EPB. Over time, a capacitor on the circuit board or the actuator stroke sensor magnetic ring may crack. If either component starts to crack, you might notice the brake warning lamp lights up on your dashboard. If you notice this light, it indicates that the EPB may not engage as it should. Any Subaru sedans of SUVs affected by this defect will pose a potential safety risk if the transmission shift lever is not left in the correct position when parked. It could lead to the EPD not properly engaging, causing the vehicle to roll.
