Love Promise Stories from Huffines Subaru Corinth

Subaru and Huffines Subaru Corinth believe in making a positive impact on the communities in which we live and work. We uphold that belief through our Love Promise Community Commitment. Every month, we select inspiring stories from customers and partners from around our area who strive to support our collective commitment and feature them here.

Starting 2024 School year off GREAT!!

On July 30, 2024 Huffines Subaru Corinth provided an abundance of school supplies to my classroom for the 2024-2025 school year. My name is Jazzmine Mendez, and I am a 5th grade teacher in Denton ISD. I am so grateful for Subaru for believing in me, and supporting not only my classroom, but my students! This will help me & my students be successful. Last year, with budgets being cut, I ended the year with one pair of scissors, no tape, students sharing pencils for testing and no copy paper! My friend, a Subaru owner, took me to meet Anthony & Krista at Huffines Subaru, & I had the opportunity to tell my story - they made my dreams a reality by getting all the supplies I had asked for. They are living their core value of supporting education, learning, and teachers! “Subaru believes that all students deserve an equal opportunity for a quality education.” Thanks to Huffines Subaru, my students who are not able to bring school supplies will now have all they need to learn. Thanks to them I will have all the supplies I need as a teacher. Teachers need a lot of support, and I love how Subaru has shown me how they love education, learning, & teachers like me. Thank you for helping me and my students have an incredible year!

Loves To Care Blanket Donation

I would like to thank Huffines Subaru Corinth on behalf of Texas Oncology for their genuine care and concern for our patients during Subaru Loves to Care month. They demonstrated generosity and care by distributing soft, warm blanket/pillow combos to patients throughout our infusion clinic and waiting areas on more than one occasion, but it was their generosity of time that really struck me. Each participating employee of Huffines Subaru Corinth took the time to connect 1:1 with patients throughout our clinic and they could be seen both laughing and crying with them as they listened to their stories. It was a beautiful example of the impact that can be had when companies engage with their communities. It is not unusual for someone to stop me and ask when the Subaru Crew will be back (or whether I have any of their blankets left.)

Huffines Subaru Helps Tornado victims

On May 25th, 2024, Sanger, Texas, was struck by a devastating EF-3 tornado, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Among the hardest hit was the marina at Lake Ray Roberts, where RVs and boats belonging to permanent residents were ravaged, and personal belongings scattered by the fierce winds. Amid the chaos and despair, a beacon of hope emerged in the form of Huffines Subaru Corinth. This unexpected hero didn’t just offer sympathy from afar – they rolled up their sleeves and plunged into the heart of the disaster. Wearing their distinctive "Subaru Loves to Care" shirts and armed with determination, the team from Huffines Subaru brought more than just manpower. They brought compassion and a tireless spirit of service. They also packed care totes for the residents filled with snacks, and goodies for the residents. With a trailer in tow, they labored alongside residents, hauling away debris and clearing the tangled aftermath of the tornado. But their impact went beyond mere physical help. For a retired Army lieutenant among the residents, who tragically lost her discharge paperwork in the chaos, the Huffines team provided more than just a helping hand – they facilitated the recovery of crucial documents that meant the world to her. In the midst of such devastation, the actions of Huffines Subaru were nothing short of extraordinary. They didn’t just show up; they became an integral part of the community’s recovery. They transformed from a car dealership into a lifeline, a symbol of solidarity and support when it was needed most. To the residents of Sanger, Texas, Huffines Subaru is no longer just a business but a steadfast partner in rebuilding lives and restoring hope. Their selfless dedication has left an indelible mark, reminding us all of the power of compassion and community in the face of adversity.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Blanket Delivery - Scott B.

On June 13th, Huffines Subaru and the LLS Red River Chapter had the pleasure of delivering 80 blankets to Texas Oncology Denton as part of the Subaru Loves To Care program. These comforting gifts were accompanied by personalized messages of hope written by the customers and staff at Huffines Subaru. This incredible act of generosity was warmly received by the Texas Oncology Denton staff who were thrilled to distribute these gifts to their patients. Many thanks to everyone at Huffines Subaru and Texas Oncology Denton, not only for a memorable day, but for supporting LLS's mission to cure blood cancers and improve the quality of life of patients and their families!

Shear Kindness

We want to thank Huffines Subaru Corinth and the Subaru Loves the Earth Initiative for the sponsorship, the medical society at the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (TAMS) was able to host a special Earth Day Initiative: Shear Kindness, a hair donation event. Every inch of hair donated at the event went to help those in need - even hair from a short trim was put to use. Individuals walked away from this event with a fresh haircut knowing that they were able to make a difference for the event’s causes. Shorter trims would go to Matter of Trust, an organization focused on creating hair mats to clean environmental pollution such as oil spills, and longer cuts would go towards Children with Hair Loss to create wigs for kids. Over the course of an afternoon on April 25th, over 70 people lined up to receive haircuts outside on UNT’s main campus. By the end of the day, TAMS Medical Society was able to collect a total of 258 inches ready to be delivered to Matter of Trust and Children with Hair Loss. Without the sponsorship of Subaru, the event and positive impact for the community would not have been possible.

Huffines Shares the Love with Little Elm

On April 17th 2024, Huffines Subaru Corinth planted a maple tree at the little elm dog park, for the 4th consecutive year in a row. In an effort to help support the town of Little Elm and the parks and recreation department, Huffines Subaru has several initiatives in the town to help keep the earth clean. They have donated a bench at the baseball fields near the lake at cottonwood park, and have also partnered in the adopt a street off of walker lane. The Huffines Team has been a great community partner, and constantly shows up to help with Keeping little elm beautiful. The tree donations that they do every year, helps provide a green space for our community, provides long term benefits to the earth, and allows the community to get together for a great cause. Thank you Huffines Subaru for all you do.

From Homelessness to Hope: Deb's Journey with Giving Grace and Huffines Subaru Corinth

Deb's story is one of resilience, redemption, and the transformative power of community support. A decade ago, she found herself in Denton, Texas, after moving from Breckinridge, Texas. After some unfortunate events, her family was shattered. Tragically, she became ensnared in homelessness and substance abuse, enduring unspeakable hardships on the unforgiving streets for ten long years. But amidst the darkness, a glimmer of hope emerged in the form of Giving Grace, who is connected to Huffines Subaru's Share the Love partner Serve Denton. It was through this organization that Deb found the courage to seek help, to break free from the chains of addiction, and to reclaim her life. With their unwavering support, she embarked on a journey of recovery. Then came the pivotal moment when Deb received news that would change her life forever. Giving Grace had secured her an apartment, a sanctuary she could finally call her own. But a home is more than just four walls and a roof—it's a place of comfort, warmth, and belonging. That's where Huffines Subaru Corinth and the Love Promise Champions stepped in. With remarkable swiftness and compassion, the team at Huffines Subaru Corinth rallied to furnish Deb's new home, ensuring that every corner radiated with love and care. From furniture to household essentials, they left no stone unturned in their mission to create a haven where Deb and her faithful four-legged companion, a two-year-old dog named Convict, could find solace and peace. On the day of the big move, volunteers came together to lend a hand. Amidst tears of gratitude and disbelief, Deb finally crossed the threshold of her new home—a place where she could lay down her burdens and begin anew. And for Convict, the loyal companion who had stood by her side through it all, it marked the end of a chapter filled with uncertainty and fear. Today, Deb's eyes shine with a newfound sense of hope and possibility. No longer haunted by the specter of homelessness, she can finally rest easy, knowing that she is safe and supported. And as for Convict, well, he may be a little perplexed by the dishwasher, but his days of guarding against "monsters" are behind him. Deb's journey serves as a powerful testament to the transformative impact of compassion and community. Through the kindness of strangers and the dedication of organizations like Giving Grace and Huffines Subaru Corinth, lives can be changed, and futures can be rewritten. As Deb herself would attest, there is always hope, even in the darkest of times.

Subaru Makes A Difference

Denton County Friends of The Family works with those impacted by domestic violence. Many of our clients are moms who may be single handedly raising their children, or moms who are experiencing financial abuse in their current relationship. Every mom wants to be able to provide the best for their children, but it can be hard with rising prices of everything in the community. Huffines Subaru was kind enough to invite our clients out to the dealership to shower our kiddos with snacks and provide them with a new pair of sneakers, socks, a blanket, a hat & mittens. On top of that our kids got to check out the cool cars on the lot! All of the Subaru staff were so welcoming and kind to our staff and clients. Our clients are forever grateful for the generosity and love they were shown by Subaru. We can not say "THANK YOU" enough!

Huffines Helps Rescue Christmas

In early December, Huffines Subaru Corinth embarked on a charitable initiative, collecting toys for the non-profit organization Single Parent Advocate in anticipation of their upcoming holiday event. Single Parent Advocate, is dedicated to making a tangible impact in the lives of single moms and dads, collaborates with supporters to bring joy and support to single-parent households. The organization's annual holiday event is a key opportunity for these parents to provide their children with a memorable Christmas. Tragically, the spirit of giving faced an unexpected obstacle when, after the toys had been picked up by Single Parent Advocate, the delivery truck was broken into just four days before the much-anticipated event, resulting in the theft of all the collected toys. Upon learning of this unfortunate incident, Huffines Subaru Corinth swiftly sprang into action. The dealership's team rallied together, pooling resources and swiftly organized a shopping trip to replace the stolen toys. Their collective effort was a testament to their commitment to community support and a recognition of the significance of the upcoming event for the single-parent families involved.

Huffines Subaru Host annual Pet event Raises 10K

Huffines Subaru Corinth proudly announced its continued support for Easy Street Animal Shelter in St. Jo, Texas, marking the third consecutive year of partnership during the Subaru Loves Pets Event this October. Easy Street Animal Shelter, renowned for its compassionate mission of rescuing and sheltering homeless and abandoned domestic animals in a "no-kill" environment, has found a steadfast ally in Huffines Subaru Corinth. The dealership's philanthropic team set an ambitious goal this year—to raise $5,000, a target surpassing three times the amount achieved in the previous year. The inaugural Huffines Subaru Barktoberfest served as the platform for this benevolent endeavor. The event, a fusion of canine celebration and community support, featured an array of attractions, including food, live music by two bands: up-and-coming artist Tyler Bond and Keaton Adams and the Gunsmiths, and a silent auction. Local businesses generously donated items for the auction, contributing to the overall success of the fundraising initiative. All proceeds generated from ticket sales and the silent auction were directed towards Easy Street Animal Shelter, embodying the spirit of giving that defines the Subaru Love Pets Event. The Barktoberfest surpassed expectations by exceeded its financial goal, raising an impressive $10,000 for the shelter. Anthony Reich and Krista Hatley visited KFDX to talk more about the success of the first Barktoberfest.

Kaci, Justen and the "Girls"

Dottie came to Easy Street Animal Shelter in Saint Jo, Texas as a stray. Even though she was microchipped, her original family had not seen her in over a year and did not want her back. It was evident that she had been living with another family, but the shelter was unsuccessful at finding that home. In her time at Easy Street, Dottie blossomed, and they found out that she was good with other dogs, loved attention from people of all size, was smart and energetic and after her full vetting, she was healthy and ready for a home. Dottie's favorite thing to do was "hunt" for critters. Watching, listening for and chasing lizards or any other small creature was a game for her, and she could spend hours patrolling the fence line, focusing on any sounds from the woods. If you called for her and she did not come, the best bet was to walk around one of the storage sheds and you would find her red fuzzy bottom, stubbed tail wiggling, sticking out from her point of view under the shed, where a lizard, mouse or other critter was entertaining her. Kaci and Justen came by the shelter one evening to visit with his mother, who volunteers there. Even though they were not looking for another dog, they fell in love with sweet Dottie, at first sight. At home, they already had a young, Great Dane and decided Dottie would be a great companion for her. Though Dottie's reaction to Maggie, when they first met, was awe at her size, it did not take long for the two dogs to decide a game of chase was fun. Now the "girls" play, sleep and hang out with their favorite people as a team. Maggie likes to play with toys and Dottie likes to contemplate the wonders of the world, but the two dogs enjoy the company of each other, and their humans. Thanks to Huffine Subaru and the Subaru Loves Pets adoption program, this young family has the opportunity to spend many years together, and Dottie found her forever home.

A Dream Come True

My daughter Victoria, "Tori" has been rock climbing (bouldering and rope) for 6 years competitively. In May 2022 while competing at Divisionals, she tore her meniscus. Tori had to have immediate surgery and did rehab/therapy over the Fall and Winter months. In December she was finally released to climb full speed again. She began training a new discipline of climbing called speed. She worked tirelessly to get better over the coming months. At the end of February 2023, my dad went in for a minor procedure and 79 days later on May 9th, he passed away. My dad was a Veteran of the Army and loved this country with all his heart. He was also one of Tori's biggest fans and loved watching her speed climb. After attending the funeral of her grandfather, Tori worked even harder training for Nationals. On July 9th, exactly two months later, Tori Won the National Championship Gold Medal in Speed Climbing! As the Champion, she was now part of the United States Youth Climbing Team and invited to the World Championships in Seoul, South Korea! Everything was happening so fast, and we were told that all expenses were to be paid by us and we had to leave for South Korea in 30 days! My dad would have been so proud to see his granddaughter wearing a USA jersey and representing this great country he fought for. A few days later, I was at Huffines Subaru Corinth for maintenance on my Subaru Wilderness and decided to walk around while I was waiting. This is when I met an Angel, Edwin. I told Edwin about my daughter and showed him the video of her winning climb. I asked if there was any chance that they might be able to sponsor Tori. Edwin told me that he would look into it and speak with Anthony and be back in touch. With such a short turn around, I was doubtful, but Edwin called me back the next week to give me amazing news! They were going to sponsor Tori and help us get her to Seoul, Korea! A week later we were at the dealership, and they were handing her a giant check and chalk bucket! A story of perseverance, dedication and hard work won Tori a Gold Medal, but a story of kindness, charitableness and generosity from the Team at Huffines Subaru Corinth helped get my daughter to the World Championships where she made the Finals! This Team is special and the only place you should shop for your next car! A Special thanks to Edwin, Anthony, Jordan and Krista for everything you all did to make a Dream Come True!

Homeschool Tour

I communicated with Anthony about an idea of hosting a field trip for our homeschool group and it all quickly came together. In May, our homeschool group, The Tribe, was welcomed into the Subaru building for a one-of-a-kind tour and learning experience! Our tour started in the sales department. The kids had the opportunity to explore the different Subaru models, hopping inside and pretending to take the vehicles for a test run. The showroom had some new Subaru models as well as a racing car, which they were so excited to learn about. The was also a few older vehicles and they had a blast exploring those as James talked about the history and facts with each one. Our next stop was the parts department. From the outside, you would have no idea there was a warehouse big enough to house all of these parts. The tour took us through 3 different levels where the kids got to see all the intricate automotive parts. Jason showed us their organizing system for incoming and outgoing orders, and how they neatly organize all the parts throughout the different levels to make it easier to find when the part is needed. The kids truly enjoyed learning about all the different parts that play a vital role in ensuring the car's performance and safety as well as the teamwork involved to keep everything flowing smoothly. Even the moms were blown away by the amount of components involved and available in the warehouse. Our final stop was the service department. Andrea welcomed us all and carefully walked the kids over to a vehicle that was already on a lift up high. The kids were wide eyed and amazed walking through the massive service department and seeing all the technicians hard at work. They loved being able to see the bottom of the car and a lot of the components from the parts department in place on the car. The skilled technician demonstrated an oil change while patiently answering all questions that were eagerly being asked. This part of the tour really ignited curiosity from our older age group in regards to school and education requirements to be able to work in the service department. To wrap up our tour, the staff generously provided lunch for the kids and moms. The kids were also given Subaru drawstring bags with some goodies inside as a way to remember their tour. The room was bursting with joy from the kids as they shared some of their favorite moments from the day. They had such an enjoyable time and we had no idea just how much this adventure would leave a lasting impact on their hearts and minds. Out of all the field trips we have taken as a group, this was truly a one-of-a-kind experience. We have a range in ages from 5-13 and this tour had a positive impact on each age group; from learning about different parts of the car to opening their minds to different job opportunities and areas of study as they continue to grow. The staff took the time to educate the children about Subaru and the importance of all the roles involved that make the company unique. They are more than just an automobile company- they are a brand with a heart for the community and planet. I want to thank the entire team at Subaru Corinth for welcoming our homeschool group. The story of our adventure with Subaru serves as a testament to the impact that a single day of exploration can have on young, growing minds. And as a homeschool group, unique opportunities likes this is what makes our journey more enjoyable.

What makes a great company

Anthony, I want to personally thank you for the use of your personal vehicle while my car is being serviced. I was not expecting that level of service when a loaner or a local rental could not be located. I cannot tell you how appreciative I am of your graciousness and the exemplary hospitality and service that you and Huffines Subaru Corinth have shown (not just this visit but all previous service visits). I would consider this “above and beyond” service and it is what makes a Good Company a GREAT Company. I hope to thank you in person when I return your auto. I look forward to a continued relationship with Huffines Subaru-Corinth going forward. I have purchased three automobiles from HSC over the years, even though I am closer to Grapevine, I continue to return to Huffines in Corinth for my autos and service. Especially with team members such as Bosko, who has also provided excellent service and is always a pleasure to deal and speak with, I will continue to make the trip to Corinth. Bosko knows how to take care of guests and creates Raving Fans. Thank you Bosko!! The attitude of all the Team at Huffines Subaru Corinth is outstanding and is an inspiration. Thank you to the Huffines’ Team. Best Regards, Frank

Bucky to the Rescue

Saturday May 6th we hosted the Huffines has it annual car show. We had special guest Bucky Lasek, and the Subaru motorsports team on hand that day. The show went amazing. Bucky Lasek was walking around meeting people, shaking hands, and signing autographs. We gave out several trophies to different Subaru owners. We offer the showroom up to a few Subaru owners that show up early to the event, one was a red 2017 STI, that actually won best overall Subaru in the show. As the day wrapped up people began to leave, all 4 cars were pulling off the showroom floor. I was taking Bucky back to the hotel as the car show was wrapping up. We were pulling out of the parking lot and, Bucky noticed that a vehicle was going to scrape his bumper on the curb, he immediately ran out of my car to help the young man, but by that time it was too late and his front bumper had cracked and pulled off the front clips. Bucky insisted to help the young man get his car off the curb, crawled under the car and installed zip ties and pulled the bumper back to its proper position. Bucky wanted to make sure the bumper was secure due to the fact that this man had a 3 hour drive back to Oklahoma. I say all of this because of all people Bucky Lasek wasn't ok with just watching someone else help, he himself after a long day wanted to jump in and help. Bucky is most definitely a passionate Subaru ambassador, he represents what the brand stands for. I'm glad to see that a man like him not only drives for Subaru, but represents our brand well outside of racing cars. I personally want to thank Subaru and Bucky for showing our owners LOVE, because that is what makes a Subaru a Subaru!

Huffines Angels

Anthony and his team at Huffines Subaru will always be angels to me and my family! As a teacher, community service is at the forefront of what I do every day and it truly takes a village to serve our students and families. I encourage my students to be kind and loving and to help others when you can. Working in Denton ISD has given me many opportunities for learning and meeting wonderful people along the way. Ms. Sheryl English is one of the wonderful people I have been blessed to know this year. She comes weekly to my campus to greet and check on students, teachers, and staff. When Ms. English came to check on me we had an instant connection and I felt at peace with her presence. In visiting with Ms. English I expressed that I have been struggling in more ways than one to get my car repaired. New tires, oil change, filter change, and steering wheel issues were on the list of things to get repaired. I explained I have been working part time jobs and donating plasma to save up for repairs as I am also adjusting to being a single mom. Mrs. English hugged me and explained Huffines Subaru has partnered with DISD to help teachers in need and she would reach out to see if they could help. A few days later Ms. English called and said Huffines Subaru would be picking up my car from work to fix the issues. I was speechless as I couldn’t believe Huffines Subaru was willing to help!!! Ms. English explained Huffines did not want me to have to wait at the dealership or take time away from my kiddos on the weekend, so they were coming to pick up the car. Come pick up day, I was greeted at my campus front doors by the nicest Subaru Angel, Ephram. He was so kind and listened when I was explaining some of the issues. He communicated throughout the day, and informed me Huffines would need to come pick me up as they found more issues and fixed those as well. More issues???!! And, they fixed them too??!!! At this point, I’m crying and laughing from the excitement and gratitude, but also in disbelief as I can’t believe I won’t have to worry about car issues for awhile. And, as a mom of two young kiddos, safety is so important. When Huffines arrived to pick me up and take me to the dealership, I then met another Huffines Angel, Anthony. He explained the Subaru Love Promise program and the “why” and “what” of the operation. Anthony was so kind, patient, and thoughtful. He listened to my story, offered drinks and snacks, and even gave hugs and tissue as I was crying from both joy and gratitude, but also just shocked at how a community dealership steps in to teachers in need. This is the village I can relate to in being an educator. A village that takes care of community helpers, so I can in return take care of not just my own family, but my school family as well. I can’t thank Huffines Subaru and Ms. English enough for their selfless service, time, and efforts to help take off so much stress and most importantly for ensuring me and my kiddos are safe in the car. From the bottom of my heart, I am forever thankful to Huffines. Their service is a reminder to me to always be helpful, patient, and understanding! Thank you Anthony and team so much! Love, Julie-Jonah-Ava

Last Minute Save

This year Neighbors United was almost unable to assist 14 Texas firefighters who had cancer or families of those who had passed away from cancer. Once Huffines Subaru of Corinth found out about this, they stepped up immediately. They let us take over the dealership for four days, had their salespeople raise funds for the firefighters and became our sole sponsor. Without Huffines Subaru of Corinth stepping up these firefighting families would not receive the financial assistance to help with bills, hotels, medical equipment and creating memories. I have never personally seen any automotive care dealership give as much as Huffines Subaru of Corinth and they deserve a lot of credit. Without them we would have had to cancel our event this year.

Small Gestures Can Mean A Lot

I have bought my last two vehicles form the Corinth location. I had to bring my car in for repairs and maintenance, and had to leave it overnight while a part covered by warranty was ordered. I live in Plano, and was asking about a courtesy ride over the DCTA station. I could ride it, count to DART and eventually make it to Plano and Uber home. Would have been about a two-hour trip. Tim Spencer over heard me talking to the service team. He told me he was heading toward Plano in just a-bit after he got off work, and would be happy to drop me off. I said, “Sure!” Tim also provided anentertaining conversation. Kept thanking him, and all he said was “no big deal at all, I was heading this way, and we appreciate your business.” Was probably no big deal to him, but was a big deal to me. Saved me two hours, about $30, and even got dropped off at my front door.

Helping Homeless Pets Find Families

During the month of October 2022, with the help of our partnership with Huffines Subaru, Easy Street Animal Shelter, located in Saint Jo, Texas, held three events, showcasing our wonderful dogs. During each, we took 14-18 different dogs to events in Saint Jo, Decatur and to the dealership in Corinth. By the end of the month, we had 14 adoptions. Though each adoption is special, two of our “underdog” adoptions were exceptionally exciting. The first one was Charlie, a young Husky who came to us with eye issues, for which she had surgery to correct, and she found her special place with one of the Huffine employees, Austin, who fell in love with her and adopted her into his family. The other unique adoption, that was helped by our Huffines Subaru partnership, was Dally, a senior, blind, Australian Shepherd, who came to our facility as a stray, and found the perfect home, where he has canine friends to help him navigate around his special yard and a human family, that has made him a pampered pooch, to live out his golden years. Huffines Subaru has been a wonderful partner to Easy Street with their generous support and the awareness they have given to our small, rural shelter. We appreciate all our friends at Huffines and enjoyed the visit from Krista and Anthony, when they delivered donations that they gathered for our dogs during the month of October. Our relationship was established when one of our board members purchased a new Subaru in 2019 and our partnership has blossomed over the years. Easy Street Animal Shelter knows that Huffines Subaru Loves Pets, because they have shown our dogs a great deal of LOVE over the years!

Huffines Subaru Corinth truly goes ABOVE AND BEYOND!

I am a Campaign Development Manager from the Leukemia and Lymphoma's Light The Night for Collin County. This year, we were blessed to have the support of Subaru and one of the greatest bonuses that came with that was meeting Anthony Reich and having Huffines Subaru Corinth join in our fight. Anthony called me soon after the fundraising campaign began and jumped in with both feet. He started the Huffines Subaru Corinth team, recruited eight other community teams to join them, had close to 100 members of their team attended the walk, and crushed their fundraising goals. When Huffines Subaru said they would give us their support, they MEANT it. They showed up and truly shined a light on the darkness of cancer. In addition of being there with their team shirts, they also brought a car that would lead the charge of survivors as our pace car, and a 16 year-old cancer survivor got to ride in the back. It truly was a magical moment and warmed the hearts of the hundreds that were there to witness it. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society strives to one day find a cure for cancer and with partners like Subaru, their amazing dealers, Huffines Subaru of Corinth, Anthony and his team.....I have NO DOUBT we will one day achieve this goal. THANK YOU SO MUCH to Huffines Subaru Corinth for showing up, giving your support and being a bright light for thousands. We are so grateful for your partnership and leadership in our fight against cancer.

Company car, needed help

I received a company car and knew nothing about the car nor Subaru. I stopped in at Huffines Subaru to hopefully get someone to tell me something about this SUV that I was blessed with less than 24 hours before. Honestly, I didn’t think I was going to have much luck cause I wasn’t buying anything and I stopped at 5:00 on a Friday of a holiday weekend. Caleb Huber took the time to go over my new SUV from top to bottom. He was very professional and demonstrated everything to me. He never acted like he was in a hurry to get me out of the dealership. He made me fall more in love with my Forester than I had before. I didn’t know about many of the features, especially the safety features. Because of the service Caleb gave me I will be bringing my company Subaru to be serviced here for all of the car's needs. Thank you Caleb

Boston Marathon

A lifelong goal of my wife Sonia and I was to run the Boston Marathon together. However, due to many military obligations and the life of active duty it was tough to find time to make this dream happen. After, retirement from a 26 year Navy career the time was right and after months of training and running a qualifying time to receive acceptance from the Boston Athletic Association was surreal, our dream was going to happen and the race was going to take place on our 22nd wedding anniversary. However, due to COVID the 2020 was was canceled and moved to a virtual race. Then in 2021 with so many applicants my qualifying time was just short of the cutoff. So the only option was to apply for a charity spot to run with my wife. After, days of looking we choose the Doug Flutie Foundation whose goal is to Helping People and Families Affected by Autism. This charity was dear to us because our son Zachary was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 5. It was an easy choice to choose this great cause. With the race drawing close, fundraising going good, and still needing some help, the amazing team at Huffines Subaru Corinth stepped up and made the final donation that pushed the fundraising over the required goal and allowed our life long dream to come true. To even celebrate more the outstanding customer service and quality of professionalism at Huffines found us a new 2021 Crosstrek for our son and made the buying process seamless and smooth. With so much negativity in the world it is great to see humble folks that care about others and go above and beyond to make a difference. We are lifelong customers now!! Thank you!!!

Customer Service Orientated/Cam Quevedo

The best car buying experience I have ever had. Thank you Cam Quevedo for making this stress free purchase! I will be back on my next auto purchase. Thank You!

Everything I Needed to Know

I bought my Subaru Outback, love the car, from Ewing Subaru. However when it came time for a service, I chose to take it to Huffines as a more convenient location. I am so glad that I did. Who would have thought that getting my car serviced could be fun and so helpful. Taylor was my service rep and she settled me in to the seating area. The coffee is good! After 45 minutes Taylor got me and my car was ready. Taylor was very nice and helpful so I mentioned that I'd had some problems lately with the car GPS. I was actually a bit embarrassed as I thought it was probably just my lack of technical know how. I wouldn't have said anything if Taylor had not been so friendly and courteous. She came out to the car with me but wasn't able to help. So she called their product specialist, James Born and he came out. He sat with me a went over the problem I had and solved it. Then he asked me if the Ewing Product Specialist had come out to the house to program my garage door, she had not. Had the specialist gone over ...the list was long. For the most part she had not. So James arranged to come to my house the next day, program my garage door and go over all the buttons. He spent an hour with me in the car in my driveway. He was patient and knowledgeable. He went over everything including stuff in the trunk that I had no idea I had. I was absolutely delighted and felt so much more knowledgeable about my car after he left. Thank you James and Taylor, well done!

Subaru Walks with Me!

Mourning the loss of a friend or co-worker to cancer is an incredibly humbling process. My name is Jarrett Beshears, and I’m a firefighter at fire station 2 in Plano, Texas. In June of 2020, a close friend asked me to fly out to Michigan for a charitable organization with the primary goal of raising awareness about firefighters with terminal cancer. I learned that in 2019 a study found that cancer was the leading cause of death for firefighters. This motivated me to make the trip out and walk with my friend. My close friend and I walked 140 miles with all of our gear on, and because of this, we were able to raise money for families of firefighters that had lost their spouses to cancer, and those that are fighting cancer. After this walk, my friend and I came up with an idea and decided to bring this same walk to North Texas to raise awareness. Unfortunately, during this time, a close friend and incredible Firefighter lost his battle with cancer. This loss was very emotional for our firefighter family in Plano and the family that had lost this exceptional individual. Because of this unfortunate event, I saw the need to make this disease more noticed. With a significant event such as this, volunteers are a vital part of helping raise this awareness. I reached out to Anthony Reich, the general sales manager with Huffines Subaru Corinth, to see if they would be interested in supporting our cause. I did this because, In the past, I have purchased cars from them. I knew how much they were involved in the community and that their hearts were in the right place, making them the perfect fit. I asked if they could volunteer anything, and they sure did. Huffines donated snacks, drinks, and, most importantly, volunteers with time. The volunteers, Krista and James, were at every mile marker with a smile on their faces encouraging everyone that came through for all four days. On the fourth day, the general sales manager Anthony and his wife walked with us all day. I want to personally want to thank Mr. Huffines and the Huffines family dealership group for being an example to our community. You have a customer for life, Jarrett Beshears

Izzy at Huffines Subaru took away the stress!

I had a bad accident soon after arriving in Texas. It was traumatic. Sadly I needed to purchase a new vehicle but living out of state in Michigan as a resident, there were many complications involved. The extra work and effort that Izzy Salas and Huffines put forth made the transaction work! They have gone out of their way to smooth out the difficulties in this process and help me get back on the road and go back home to Michigan safely. Thank You to You all!!

Ukuleles Save the Day

I remember getting the news that everything was changing. I sat there in my pajamas, two weeks into isolation full of disbelief. I was about to graduate college and begin my career as a first year music teacher. That in and of itself was something I felt too much already. But now it was time to throw everything I'd learned in college out the window. I wouldn't have my music room, and the students couldn't sing or hold hands or play games or do much of anything. I felt lost and like a complete failure my first year. As much as I tried to make things fun and engaging, I just didn't have the tools to do so. This is now my second year, and I do feel like a much better teacher than last year. However, I was still racking my brain on how to engage the older kiddos. I needed a way for them to start making actual music, and recorders were out of the question. That's when Huffines Subaru Corinth stepped in. They were kind enough to give me the funds to purchase a class set of ukuleles. We used them once already and the students were absolutely in LOVE with them. We've been going over reading notes and composition, but the students are so excited to use them during our fourth nine weeks. I can't thank you enough, and I'm so excited to start sharing videos of our kiddos once we start actually playing. All I can say is THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! You have truly allowed me to start connecting with my older students and have reignited their passion for music.

Subaru Loves Pets Event

The Little Elm Animal Shelter partnered with Subaru of Corinth for the Subaru Loves Pets Event this year and our customers loved it! They were happy when they found out that their adoption fee was paid for and even more excited to get the Subaru car toy! Subaru made this event pretty easy and many of our adopters actually gave donations in place of their adoption fees, which always helps us. Thank you Subaru! Can't wait til next year.

Dog Days of Denton

The Denton Parks Foundation would like to say THANK YOU to Anthony Reich and his team at Huffines Subaru, Corinth for their continued support of the annual Dog Days of Denton event! Their Ballroom sponsorship was a huge hit with the dogs, allowing them to play off leash in a miniature dog park. With their sponsorship and support, we are one step closer to our goal of adding an additional shade structure at the North Lakes Dog Park. James and Robert, with Huffines, also took part in the event, handing out promo items to our many community members who attended. Thank you again for your support in helping us continue our mission of Uniting People over Parks!

A continued partnership

For the 2021-2022 school year, Huffines Subaru has continued to support the students and teachers of Borman Elementary. This year Anthony Reich and his team helped 6 teachers receive $500 each and also collected generous donations of additional school supplies needed in the classroom. Our teachers will be able to use their funds to purchase items that promote both deep levels of student learning and foster high levels of student engagement. Our community is so honored by the commitment and generosity of Huffines Subaru. Thank you for the continued support and the meaningful way it allows us to support our students!

Share the Love Blankets Making a Difference

Giving Hope, Inc. is a non-profit in Denton County that serves those experiencing homelessness and those at risk of homelessness. We are so blessed to have community partners like Huffines Subaru, whose generosity makes it possible to meet an ever increasing need and ensuring none are forgotten. The year 2020 and the onset of COVID-19 has brought about changes that no one could have expected. We usually receive around 600 requests in an 8-month period of time, but this year we received over 2100 requests for assistance. This led to a strain on the resources available countywide. We were challenged to continue to help those in need prior to the pandemic and also meet the needs of a new population that had never required assistance before. What we saw early on was that it would take a community effort to recover from the impact of COVID-19. Even in the midst of the pandemic, our Street Outreach Team has been going into encampments throughout the City of Denton to provide those experiencing homelessness with personal protective equipment to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Huffines Subaru’s donation to our Street Outreach Team could not have come at a better time. We are facing a cold front and scientists are saying that the presence of respiratory infections may make you more susceptible to COVID-19. Keeping our clients that are unsheltered warm and dry is paramount during this time. So the blankets provided by Huffines Subaru will go very far in helping us keep valued members of our community safe from the spread of COVID-19. Art Supplies for Borman Elementary

We have been so blessed by Anthony Reich and his team at Huffines Subaru Corinth. The Subaru Love Promise donation for our school, Frank Borman Elementary in Denton, TX, has helped supply our entire 4th and 5th-grade students with colored pencils for their individual art supply kits. In this time of uncertainty and emphasis on safety protocols, our district art teachers were tasked to build individual art supply kits for each student. With our typical budget, art teachers usually purchase one class set or items in bulk to share for art class. Safety protocols say that we shouldn't be sharing supplies this year, instead building individual art kits for each child. Buying individual supplies goes from purchasing one class set that comes with 36 items to needing 450 of each supply. Basically, we had to multiple our supplies without multiplying our budget. The community came to our amazing student-artists aid and we had most of the items for our artists to start learning this year. We were struggling to fund colored pencils for our students since they are around $5.00 a piece. We needed 100 colored pencil sets to cover our two grade levels. At close to $500, we were going to have to make it through the year without them. After reaching out to Anthony, he was quick to say he could help us fill our need. Huffines Subaru Corinth purchased all 100 colored pencil sets for our kids. Now we can create art using more than just pencils and crayons. We are able to add another supply to our art kits for our oldest artists. Colored pencils are such an important tool for older students to create visual art that is impactful and using a more advanced material. As the art teacher, I am so blessed by the donation and program. I has elevated the stress of finding the funds to purchase these supplies. Not only did Subaru purchase the sets of colored pencils, but they were 24 pack erasable colored pencils. These colored pencils will last for our students to make art into the future. Thank you for seeing the importance of art education, creativity, and supporting our students in this challenging time. Thank you, Subaru and Anthony for making our learning a possibility! We are so grateful and can't wait to get creating!

Welcome to the family!

My decision to buy a Subaru was based off of recommendation for a quality, safe vehicle. What I did not realize was that buying a Subaru is not like buying any other car. When you buy a Subaru, you are buying into a family! My experience at Huffines Subaru Corinth was like no other car buying experience (and I have bought A LOT of cars). Their commitment to the Subaru “experience” is incredible! With times being what they are, with social distancing, the employees at Huffines still made the experience very personal! Interacting with Tom, Joey, James and Austin was so professional but also like working with true friends that have your back! I also had the pleasure of working with the manager, Anthony. It is very clear that he leads by example and it reflects in his employees! I love my car and am so proud to be a part of the Subaru family! I even got a badge for it! The best part is that the relationship doesn’t end at the close of the sale! Just like family, they are there for you when you need them! Subaru and Huffines definitely show the love!!

Paws 4 a Cause

“My name is Amber Lynn and I am the Senior Admin of Subaru Ladies, an international all female car club. Every year we get together and host an event called Paws 4 a Cause for charity to raise money, goods and awareness for local no-kill animal shelters around the United States. We strive every year to have a bigger, better event than the last and to raise more money for the animal shelter. Teaming up with Huffines Subaru of Corinth allowed us to do just that this year. Huffines has a wonderful, welcoming team that goes above and beyond to help everyone who steps foot on their property. Huffines Subaru of Corinth is my number one choice and I am a Huffines Brat!” Back in 2015, Katie Abshier wanted to get the group of animal loving, Subaru loving ladies together to give back to the community by helping no-kill animal shelters. Subaru Loves Pets and has been donating to the ASPCA for years, and they wanted to do the same thing but help out the shelters that do the most to make sure animals aren't put down just because they weren't adopted within 72 hours. Subaru Ladies 1st annual event started in Sacramento, California in 2015 where the group helped out Wags & Whiskers Rescue. They were able to raise over $500 and bring a car load of dog and cat food, beds, cleaning supplies and much more to the animal shelter. This year, for their 5th annual event, Huffines Subaru of Corinth hosted the group and honored Easy Street Shelter in St Jo, Texas. Huffines Subaru also donated $1000 to their cause. Together they raised $1,900 worth of funds and supplies.

Supporting Lake Dallas Educaiton

August, for North Texas, means back-to-school for nearly 4,000 students and 300 teachers in Lake Dallas ISD. Huffines Subaru Corinth’s General Manager, Robert Goodwin, has been a long-time member of the Lake Cities Chamber of Commerce (going on 10 years) and the dealership has consistently been active in supporting the district’s Adopt-a-Teacher program for the last 5 years. This year, with a move to a new building (less than a mile from Lake Dallas High School), Huffines Subaru has doubled-down on their commitment to the Subaru Loves Learning initiative and their support for local education. This year, the dealership donated $1000 to the Adopt-a-Teacher program. This fund was started by the Lake Cities Chamber of Commerce 20 years ago and helps support the districts 75 new teachers and paraprofessionals in getting desperately needed supplies for their classrooms. Teachers are asked during their training to create a wish-list of items that will help them and their students. The Chamber then uses the funds raised to get as many of these supplies as possible. Huffines Subaru didn’t stop there though! Recognizing that financial support for extracurricular activities is increasingly needed from outside sources, the dealership has also made donations this month directly to these programs. They made a $500 donation to the Lake Dallas High School Highsteppers and $1000 to the Lake Dallas High School Band. Huffines Subaru will further be supporting the districts education efforts in November at the Lake Cities Education Foundation Gala where they will be donating an additional $1200 toward teacher grants and student scholarships.

Huffines Subaru Corinth Shines on Bell Elementary

One bright and sunny day in Little Elm Texas there was an Elementary school that had had a wonderful day! The day had come to an end and our brave teachers were sent out on their missions of crosswalk duty and car line! While the brave teachers were outside the mighty sun beat down on them. The teachers cried "Dude! Mr. Sun! That's some bright light you've got there! Could you tone it down during duty though, please?" The Mighty Sun said "Ha! This is Texas! I can shine bright and hot on whoever I want! What are you going to do about it?" The teachers were at a loss! They had lost their eye shields (sun glasses) while they were basking in the relaxing summer break (working a second job during the summer) and were unable to find them again. Doo do do dooooo! Huffines Subaru Corinth heard the perils of the fantastic brave teachers and said, " Why I can save the day! I shall bring new eye shields (sun glasses) for all!" Bell Elementary Teachers and Staff were so grateful of Huffines Subaru Corinth! "You're our Hero!"Huffines Subaru Corinth takes any oppertunity to lend a hand to the schools around them. This is truely and community supporter that is valued and appreciated. Thank you, Huffines Subaru Corinth

Grateful Mom

In August 2019 Huffines Subaru in Corinth partnered with Arms of Hope to help a single mother and her one year old find a safe and reliable car. Arms of Hope helps motivated single mothers and their children transition into successful, independent futures by providing parenting skills, career training, and a home in a peaceful and safe environment. Our client had a series of unfortunate events: she was in a car wreck and out of desperation bought a car off of facebook and ended up getting scammed. She was sold a cash car with a fake title that had a lot of mechanical issues. We looked into how to get a title for the car but ran into many roadblocks. After many trips to the mechanic and the car being repossessed due to an unpaid loan from the previous owner, we were back to looking for a car. Arms of Hope reached out to Anthony Simmonds at Huffines Subaru Corinth and he helped us find an affordable and reliable vehicle for the family in need. We are very thankful for our partnership with Huffines Subaru Corinth and for support and compassion for our Arms of Hope families and those in need. Thank you, Arms of Hope.

Huffines Subaru Cares for Cancer Survivor

Elaine Haught and Otis Jackson had fallen on hard times. In the heat of the Texas summer they made the long drive to the Texas Oncology Center in Denton, all the way from their home in Pilot Point. Their A/C unit in their car had broken, making the nearly 30-mile trip seem all that much longer. The couple discussed several options to fix the damaged unit. Unfortunately, because of the medical costs associated with Mrs. Haught’s treatment, they could not afford the $1,500 repair that they needed. They eventually let it go. As temperatures hovered near the 100-degree mark, they continued to press on. On June 19, 2019 Elaine was receiving yet another round of chemo treatment when Huffines Subaru Corinth visited the center to deliver blankets from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as part of Subaru Loves to Care. That was when Elaine and Otis met Les Hickman from the Huffines Subaru Parts Department. He gave them their blanket and gifts, and sat with them for a while to chat. Many Subaru customers had written notes of encouragement to the patients, and Elaine was particularly touched by a note from a child named “Josh” who supplied a card offering for one free hug. Les was more than happy to stand in for Josh and make sure that Elaine got that free hug. The gesture moved her to tears. But Les wanted to do more. He was horrified to learn about the conditions Elaine and Otis had to endure just to make it out to get treatment. Les met with Anthony Reich, General Sales Manager for Huffines Subaru, to find out if there was anything they could do to help. Huffines has been built on two major pillars: "Treat the customer the way they want to be treated" and "Support the local community." Inspired by the Subaru Love Promise and the Huffines values, Anthony and Les saw an opportunity to really ‘wow’ a member of the community. Anthony got in touch with the office manager of Texas Oncology to give Elaine his cell phone to get in touch and offered to repair their car’s air conditioning and have it detailed free of charge. The following Wednesday, Elaine and Otis drove away from Huffines Subaru Corinth with windows up and cool air blowing and Huffines Subaru knew they had made friends for life. That Friday, Elaine had her final round of chemo. She will have six months of maintenance treatments, but is otherwise declared cancer free.

Huffines Subaru Blanket Delivery 2019

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of North Texas had the amazing pleasure to partner together with Huffines Subaru on June 19 for their Subaru Loves to Care Program. As one of 8 neighborhood retailers, Huffines delivered 80 blankets and 30 arts and crafts kits to Texas Oncology-Denton South, while also conveying hope, warmth, and uplifting words of encouragement to those currently being treated and battling for their lives. Each blanket came along with a personal note of hope written by the customers and staff of Huffines that the patients absolutely loved reading. Huffines went above and beyond by making goodie bags along with the blankets and arts kits consisting of cups, pencils and other little gifts. The Subaru staff personally handed out these blankets and chatted for a few minutes getting to know each patient. One couple in particular told the dealership how their car’s A/C was broken from normal wear and tear, making trips for treatment difficult especially in the Texas heat. Huffines was generous enough to offer to fix their car at no cost. It is amazing how something as simple as delivering blankets can make such a huge difference for a family! The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of North Texas is beyond appreciative for the kindness and commitment of Huffines Subaru not only for our mission but also to those in our local community. Seeing the joy on patients’ faces as the blankets were personally delivered was extremely rewarding and heartwarming. We are honored to collaborate with an organization that offers back to the absolute most meriting individuals and carries light to the darkness of a cancer diagnosis.

Partners in Service

This June, Huffines Subaru Corinth was excited to celebrate the signing of a 3-year agreement with Serve Denton as their charity partner for Subaru’s Share the Love Event. For the past 3 years Huffines Subaru has worked with Serve Denton as part of Share the Love, and donated over $90,000 toward helping support their facility and mission to provide one-stop access to community support. From 2019-2022 Huffines Subaru Corinth has committed to donating a further $125,000 to the facilities. On June 12, 2019, Serve Denton gave Huffines Subaru employees a tour of the new center (due to open fully by the end of August) including the ‘Huffines Subaru Classroom’: a 667 sq. ft room complete with Smart Board, media displays, and seating configurations for 24 to 60-person class arrangements. “Part of our core values is giving back to our community. It’s a value the J.L. Huffines Sr. set forth [in] 1924 when he started this business. So, we want to relay to our team members how we do that, and how we support our community. One of the major ways is our relationship with Serve Denton and through the Share the Love Campaign with Subaru.”- Robert Goodwin, General Manager of Huffines Kia Subaru Corinth Currently, the Serve Denton Center is home to 11 nonprofit partners that provide assistance for addiction recovery, youth and family counseling, women’s support, veterans’ support, and mental health treatment. By completion, the center will also have a medical facility as part of Health Services of North Texas, the Children’s Advocacy Center, and the Denton Community Food Center. The new facilities expect to serve over 16,000 people in the first year. The Medical Center will provide medical care, counseling, prescription, and nutrition services for those in need in the community. It is a 7500 sq. ft facility with 12 exam rooms and a minor procedure room with a fully paid staff of medical professionals. The Medical Center will also be connected to the Children’s Advocacy Center. The proximity of these facilities will be an invaluable asset to providing care to abused children. Having police, CPS and medical care in a single building will allow children to only have to recount incidents a single time, and in complete privacy. The Children’s Advocacy Center will have 10 therapy rooms, 18 therapists, and 4 private waiting rooms with on-sight childcare. It will also host satellite offices for the DA, CPS, and the Denton County Sheriff’s Office. Just outside of the main Serve Denton Center is the Denton Community Food Center. This 10,000 sq. ft building includes a 600 sq. ft. freezer and can hold up to 3-4 weeks of food at a time. Persons in need will be able to come to the reception area of the food center and check off the items that they need from a check list, and have those items picked out and brought directly to them. Huffines Subaru is thrilled to be a part of this project! They started working with Serve Denton when they built a butterfly garden at the Wheeler House back in 2015, and this 3-year plan only strengthens that bond and commitment to helping the community grow. “We are so grateful for the support we have had from Huffines Subaru’s team over the years, and look forward to continuing to do that in the future” – Pat Smith, Founder and CEO of Serve Denton

Building a Better Future for Country Dogs

Terry Fender initially made his way to the Huffines Subaru Corinth to look for a new car; and ended up driving away with a new Forester and a new partnership. He is a board member for Easy Street Animal Shelter in St. Jo, Texas, and when Huffines Subaru learned that they were raising money to build isolation kennels for the shelter, they were ready to help! On June 25th Huffines Subaru team members, Brent Kelly and April Sumner, drove out to Blue Ostrich Winery and Vineyard to participate in the shelter’s Pasta, Wine, and Wags charity dinner to raise the funds needed to complete phase 3 of the structure. The construction of the kennel is meant to be completed in September. It will be used as an intake kennel for new dogs that need to be vaccinated and medically cleared before they can be allowed in general population. The structure has 3 indoor/outdoor climate controlled kennels, a bathing station, and also has a nursery for mother dogs and their pups. The final push for funding will help complete the interior of the building. Montague County does not have its own shelter program. There are only three shelters covering nearly 1000 square miles: one that only accepts dogs within the city limits of Bowie, and two more that can only take in when there is space available. Huffines Subaru was proud to be able to help Easy Street expand their no-kill shelter facilities, saving the lives of many more country dogs and helping them get healthy so they may find new forever-homes.

Helping the Community Support Each Other

St. Francis of Assisi is one of the largest Catholic Churches in North Texas, and frequently works in and around the region to promote community involvement and faith outreach. They have been praised as “Best Place to Worship – 2013” by Frisco Style Magazine and “#1 Place to Worship – 2015” by the Local Media Reader’s Choice Awards. On June 8, 2019 Huffines Subaru helped sponsor their Golf Tournament to raise money for ACTS (Adoration, Community, Theology, and Service), a Catholic Retreat that encourages acts of service and community. The St. Francis Outreach Ministry is active in supporting several projects around DFW, including AIDS outreach, Clothe a Child, and substance abuse programs. Representatives from Huffines Subaru attended the event and provided a donation to help support their ministry. The ACTS program, and others like it, are helpful in promoting community engagement and service initiatives. Huffines Subaru is enthusiastic in supporting the local organizations, both large and small, in continuing to share the love and pay their support forward. "I reached out to Huffines Subaru to sponsor my Charity Golf Tournament; and not only were they happy to sponsor, they also donated several items for our Raffle. Everyone loved the Ascent that was brought to the course. As usual, Huffines went above and beyond what was asked of them.Thank you so much!" - Linda Mason

Huffines Subaru Honors Our First Responders

On January 17, 2017 the Town of Little Elm, Texas found itself in mourning. Detective Jerry Walker, of the Little Elm Police Department, responded to a disturbance involving an armed individual and became the department’s first officer to lose his life in the line of duty. Detective Walker had spent 19 years with the department, was an Army veteran, a father of four, and a friend to the community. His loss was felt across North Texas. Shortly after this tragic loss, the community began to discuss ways to honor Detective Walker, and show appreciation for our first responders. Huffines Subaru was eager to partner with the Town of Little Elm in sponsoring a park dedicated to those that protect and serve our community. The Little Elm Public Safety Honor Park had its official ribbon cutting ceremony on May 15, 2019. Huffines Subaru attended the event and the presentation of the pavilion that they sponsored. “We are honored to have helped make this possible, and hope that this park encourages the community to share the love and appreciate our local heroes for all that they do for us.” – Anthony Reich, General Sales Manager, Huffines Subaru The park will host annual events for Police Week during May,and also serve as a sight for recognizing veterans and first responders on days such as Memorial Day and September 11th.

Huffines Subaru Shares the Love With Serve Denton

Huffines Subaru selected Serve Denton as its local charity for the 2018 Share the Love campaign, which resulted in a gift of $38,585 for Serve Denton. Huffines Subaru’s support has helped Serve Denton expand to become one of the largest nonprofit centers in Texas, now over 48,000 sq/ft. Serve Denton was able to welcome three new nonprofit partners to the Serve Denton Center in the last year: Health Services of North Texas, Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County and Denton Community Food Center. These nonprofits will join the Serve Denton Center in the Summer and Fall of 2019. Giving Hope, Inc. has also begun to the office at the Serve Denton Center. Their organization currently manages the transitional housing facility at The Wheeler House, which is another Serve Denton project. Giving Hope, Inc. is now able to host a program at the Serve Denton Center called The Road Home that is designed to help those who are homeless deal with the trauma they have experienced in their life. Not only is the Serve Denton Center expanding, but so is The Wheeler House. Grace Like Rain will soon be operating an emergency shelter at The Wheeler House for moms and their kids. We are thankful for Huffines Subaru’s support of Serve Denton and their involvement in our mission to partner with nonprofits to help make their services more accessible.

Subaru Supports Flower Mound PD Santa Cops Program

Huffines Subaru Corinth had the incredible opportunity to support the Flower Mound Police Department's 2018 Santa Cops program in October. The Flower Mound Police Department (FMPD) and the Flower Mound Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association (FMCPAAA) held a casino night fundraiser event to collect donations and gifts for the Santa Cops program. Each year FMPD and FMCPAAA collect gifts and donations to distribute at Christmas to children in Flower Mound that might have otherwise not received a gift from Santa. Santa Cops is designed to be an outlet for those that want to make Christmas brighter for a child as well as a positive interaction between the FMPD and those children that might perceive law enforcement in a negative light. Huffines Subaru had the privilege to sponsor a gaming table as well as donate items for the silent auction and raffle.

Subaru Brings Warmth to Cancer Patients

At the end of June, Huffines Subaru joined forces with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) of North Texas to bring warmth and hope to children battling cancer at Cook Children's Hospital. Subaru donated 80 blankets and more than 30 arts & craft kits to the children being treated at the hospital. We were greeted by Ralph the therapy dog who was happy to pose for a picture with the blankets that would soon put a smile on his patients' faces. Subaru supports the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in their mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Huffines Subaru Shares the Love

Huffines Subaru has supported Serve Denton since 2015. Their management and employees started off by volunteering at the Denton Mobile Pantry, a free monthly food pantry with Tarrant Area Food Bank and Denton Hunger Coalition that takes place in the Serve Denton parking lot. Their employees also partnered with members from Texas Woman’s University to build a professionally designed butterfly garden at The Wheeler House, a Serve Denton project. The Wheeler House is a transitional housing facility for moms and their kids in a housing crisis managed by Giving Hope, Inc. and an affordable health clinic managed by Health Services of North Texas. The butterfly garden will become a teaching and learning garden for the children living at The Wheeler House and will help promote the national campaign to expand suitable habitats for butterflies along the I-35 corridor between Mexico and Canada. Texas native plant gardens support the butterflies as they undertake their annual migration by proving milkweed plants for their caterpillars to eat. The other native flowering plants provide nectar, which sustain the adult butterflies as well as support the bees and birds. After their national conference, Subaru donated items, which are now being used in the office, classroom and play therapy rooms used by our 11 nonprofit tenant agencies. Huffines Subaru chose Serve Denton as the local charity for their 2016 Share the Love campaign, which resulted in a check for $35,000 for Serve Denton.
