Flower Mound Independence Fest 2023

Enjoy music, parades, vintage car shows, live entertainment, and more when you attend Flower Mound Independence Fest 2023. Music lovers will appreciate the headline band for this 2023 fest, the Eli Young Band. You’ll be tapping your toes and dancing the evening away to such country music chart-toppers as “Even If It Breaks Your Heart.”

Kids will get a kick out of age-appropriate activities, including the Children’s Parade. This part of the Independence Fest 2023 starts at 10 a.m. You can cheer on youngsters as they parade by on decorated trikes, bicycles, wagons, and strollers. The lineup for the Children’s Parade starts at 9:30 a.m. at the corner of Eaton and Timber Creek Road. This much-anticipated annual Flower Mound event ended after enjoying the concert, participating in fun activities, eating from the various food trucks, settling in, and watching the fireworks show.

Take on the Heat Triathlon

Those who enjoy running, biking, and swimming can register for the Take on the Heat Triathlon. The organizers of this event offer several levels of participation, including:

• Sprint Triathlon.
• Super Sprint Triathlon.
• Run-Bike-Run (Duathlon).
• Run-Bike-Run Relay.
• 5K Run.
• Youth 5K (14 years and under).

In addition to in-person race events, you can join the fun virtually on the treadmill, in your backyard, or wherever you have the internet. Participate in the Virtual Sprint Triathlon, Super Sprint Triathlon, and the Run-Bike-Run (Duathlon). You can also take part in the Virtual 5K Run.

Max Stalling at The Lewisville Grand Theater

Don’t miss out on seeing the Texas singer-songwriter Max Stalling this summer at the Lewisville Grand Theater. Stalling creates songs like a snapshot of his life while incorporating Texas charm and spirit. Max Stalling plays guitar and performs vocals for his new album, “Banquet,” while other members play the bass, drums, mandolin, fiddle, and steel guitar. The Max Stalling show is part of the Lewisville Grand Theater’s Texas Tunes series that showcases Lone Star artists and culture.

Liberty by the Lake

Celebrate Independence Day early at The Colony’s Liberty by the Lake festivities. This family-friendly event is chock full of activities that everyone in the family will enjoy. The festivities begin with a 5K/10K/1M race at Stewart Creek Park. You’ll want to either participate or watch the Independence Day parade, whose theme for 2023 is Texas Legends. The parade starts at 10:45 a.m. at the Peters Colony Elementary School and ends at The Colony Five Star Complex.

If you want to enjoy the evening activities and celebrations, come to The Colony Five Star Complex at 6 p.m. to enjoy food from local vendors, music from live performers, and age-appropriate rides. Set your blanket or low-slung lawn chair up when the sun goes down, and prepare for a spectacular fireworks show. Personal grills, outside beverages, personal coolers, and glass containers are prohibited.

Sounds of Lewisville Concert Series

Since 1991, Lewisville locals and visitors have enjoyed free music and family entertainment through the Sounds of Lewisville Concert Series held in Old Town Lewisville. Each Tuesday evening, you can watch two bands while enjoying the warm summer evening and dining on meals offered by local food vendors. In 2022, the concert series hosted 14 bands and 20 food vendors with an attendance of over 8,000 people. The Sounds of Lewisville Concert Series ends with a thrilling fireworks show.

Location: 150 W. Church St. at the Wayne Ferguson Plaza in Lewisville.

Day and time: Every Tuesday in June and July 2023, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Movies in the Park

The Colony’s Park and Recreations department plays free Movies in the Park during the spring and late summer. Everyone can watch family-friendly movies together while sitting on their blanket or lawn chair. You can bring your food packed or picked up from a local Corinth deli or restaurant. You can also buy food, snacks, and beverages from local on-site concessions. April 2023, movies shown at Movies in the Park included “Minions: The Rise of Gru“ and “Lightyear.” Movies in the Park will have its last show on September 29, 2023.
