Once again, there will be five trim levels for the 2023 Subaru Legacy: Base, Premium, Limited, Sport, and Touring XT. The Legacy’s exterior has been modernized for 2023 with a bold new front fascia with a bigger grille, updated highlights, and reworked headlights and fog lights. It also has new exterior features, such as a red stripe in the grille and gray mirror caps. Each component was carefully chosen to create a look that mixes upscale design with sporty functionality.

The Sport model stands out immediately, adding a trunk spoiler, trim-specific gray 18-inch wheels, and a horizontal red accent across the Legacy’s redesigned grille. Most importantly, for 2023, the Sport now has the same engine as the top-level Touring XT. Combined with the sport-tuned suspension, LED fog lights, moonroof, and navigation, the Subaru Legacy Sport is a better value than ever. Interior Comfort and Space

For 2023, the Legacy’s voluminous, refined interior, adorned in Slate Black cloth, has been redesigned with even greater comfort, convenience, and technology. There’s a 12-way power front driver’s seat with a four-way power lumbar adjustment available and a 360-degree heated steering wheel to keep your fingers nimble in cold weather. A noise-reducing windshield makes for a more peaceful and comfortable ride.

With up to 105.5 cubic feet of passenger space and 39.5 inches of rear legroom, the 2023 Legacy offers each passenger more than enough room. Cargo space remains consistent from the 2022 edition at 15.1 cubic feet, which is excellent for its class.

Infotainment Technology

A STARLINK Multimedia system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity is standard on the 2023 Legacy. Premium and higher models bring a high-resolution 11.6-inch touchscreen instead of a 7-inch touchscreen. Still, all models also have a second, lower 7-inch screen that handles air conditioning controls. This lets you easily manage multiple tasks instead of moving through different apps or sections on one screen.

The Legacy includes available USB-C charging connections in the front and back and conventional USB-A connectors for everyone’s gadgets. Of course, wireless Bluetooth pairing and hands-free smartphone controls are also at your service. Engines and Performance

The one notable powertrain update for 2023 is the new standard engine on the Sport model, which also returns as the standard engine for the Touring XT. This 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine puts out 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque, and it can accelerate the Legacy from zero to 60 mph in just 6.1 seconds.

The standard direct-injection 2.5-liter Subaru Boxer engine appearing on the Base, Premium, and Limited has 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque, with a zero-to-60-mph time of 8.0 seconds. This powertrain has automatic start/stop technology to save fuel and earns up to 35 highway mpg. The thrifty standard engine combines perfectly with the sizable 18.5-gallon fuel tank, leading to a car you won’t be taking to the pump very often.

All new Subaru vehicles have the latest versions of Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) positioned in the middle of the vehicle to distribute weight evenly. Symmetrical AWD provides a firmer connection to the road by checking and adjusting the acceleration, braking, and cornering in real-time. It even maximizes grip in wet conditions, including rain and snow, and minimizes the vibration from older roads.

Safety Features

The 2023 Subaru Legacy adds a few updated safety features to all trims, namely the Subaru EyeSight package. EyeSight includes such features as adaptive cruise control, lane-centering assist, pre-collision braking, and lane-keeping assistance. The Legacy Touring XT includes A wide-angle mono camera, which works in tandem with EyeSight to better detect pedestrians and bicycles at low-speed junctions. Also available on the Legacy Sport and Touring XT is a driver attention mitigation system that combines an infrared camera and facial recognition to detect inattentive or distracted driving.

If a vehicle is detected in your blind spots, the blind-spot detection system will alert you visually on each side mirror. Rear cross-traffic alert detects oncoming side traffic to warn you before backing up toward it, which is ideal for exiting crowded parking lots.
